Detroit Institute of Arts
One of the country's great art museums. Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry Murals — a full room of floor-to-ceiling frescoes — are alone worth the trip. Free for Wayne County residents.
Cliff Bell's
A 1935 jazz club restored to its original art deco bones. Live music almost every night, strong drinks, and one of the most atmospheric rooms in the city. Reserve a table.
The Sugar House
Detroit's most serious cocktail bar. The menu rotates constantly and reads like a book — in the best way. Not loud, never crowded with the wrong crowd. Go on a Wednesday.
Anthology Coffee
Small-batch roasts, immaculate pour-overs, and a calm room that makes it easy to stay longer than planned. Detroit's best specialty coffee, and it knows it — without being annoying about it.
Selden Standard
Michigan-sourced, thoughtfully cooked, and one of the best wine lists in the city. The right call for a proper dinner. Book 2–3 days ahead on weekends.
Detroit Historical Museum
The full arc of this city — the auto era, Motown, the rebellion of '67, and the comeback. The "Streets of Old Detroit" walk-through exhibit is genuinely worth an hour. Free admission.
Sister Pie
Seasonal whole pies and slices that are legitimately some of the best in the Midwest. The West Village shop sells out by early afternoon — go before noon or call ahead.
The Masonic Temple
The largest Masonic temple in the world, and a serious concert venue. If something's playing here during your trip, it's worth rearranging your evening for. Check the calendar before you book.
Chartreuse Kitchen
Vegetable-forward cooking done with real care, excellent cocktails, and weekend brunch that doesn't disappoint. One of the most underrated restaurants in the neighborhood.
Belle Isle Park
A 982-acre island park in the Detroit River with skyline views of both the US and Canada. Best on a clear morning — take the conservatory, walk the waterfront, and watch the freighters pass.
Getting Around
Detroit is more navigable than its reputation suggests.
On Foot
Midtown is genuinely walkable. The DIA, Wayne State, and most coffee shops are under 10 minutes from our front door.
Rideshare
Uber and Lyft are fast and reliable throughout the city. Most downtown rides run $8–14. Peak times are Friday evenings and Saturday nights.
The QLine
A streetcar runs along Woodward Ave connecting Midtown to downtown and New Center. $0.50 per ride. Great for a no-hassle evening out.
Parking
Two dedicated guest spots behind the building — first come, first served. Street parking is easy on weekdays and most of Saturday.
